Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas!

Come home to Franklin County and experience a Victorian Christmas like those of old.

WHERE: In downtown Rocky Mount. Streets are blocked off to traffic - so there is only foot traffic and clop clop clop of horses hooves. Turn on the Carolers, Bell up the horse drawn carriages, heat up the chestnuts and Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas!

WHEN: Friday Dec 5th, 2008 - 5:00PM to 9:30PM

What will there be to see and do? Throw on your scarf, gloves and muff and walk down the block from The Claiborne House B&B to Franklin Street.

Restaurants and shops will be open with extended hours. Free carriage rides, Brass Ensembles, The Wright Kids (now famous from making it into the top ten on America's got Talent) will be performing, Dance ensembles, Downtown Music will put on some tunes, Outlaw Cruisers will have vintage cars, Food Vendors, Crafts, Children s activities, Live Trees and wreaths, I even think our beloved Dick Shoemaker will be reading stories to the kids in the library storefront. Oh, and of course Santa will be there.

All street events and performances are offered at no charge and include a brass ensemble, Christmas tree lighting, drama skits, dancers, choirs, antique cars, live music via Footlights of the Blue Rige (a heritage music program of The Crooked Road)and music performances at Downtown Music, home of The Crooked Road Banjo.

This is a wonderful small town event. Our little downtown really sparkles with white lights and Christmas decor on this night of old timey fun.

and mark your calendars for - Franklin County Christmas Parade, December 9, 2007

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of Pausing,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
