As you know, I write the blog, do the marketing, the cooking, the cleaning, the innside stuff...well since Tony is in Seattle visiting our friends (we lived there for 11 years prior to moving to Virginia to buy The Claiborne House) I thought I would share a little bit about him.

Tony was born in New Zealand and grew up in Australia. He spent 10 years in the RAN (Royal Australian Navy), most of that time spent on a FFG, HMAS ADELAIDE. We married in Gosford, New South Wales and after five years in Sydney moved to the PacNorthWET where moss grows on both sides of the tree.
In 2004 we bought The Claiborne House B&B and moved east young man to Virginia! We love it here, we really and truly do, we aren't jus' sayin' that. This is home.
Tony is in his element here owning and operating this old house, in fact we used to enjoy the show "This Old House" which may have prepared him for some of the chores in this phase of his life! From repairing, replacing and restoring, to renewing and reusing. He has done much as all old houses are needy and expensive mistresses to keep!
Tony built and installed the three ponds on the grounds out in the gardens. They go from phase to phase as different blooms come in. Early June the day lillies bloom around the pond as in the first photo. I would like to share some construction photos of the ponds I found recently, as many guests like to sit out near the ponds and relax. Oftentimes with a book, a glass of wine or a loved one to pass the time. We hope you will innjoy the ponds that Tony your exceptional outside innkeeper labored to innstall for you.
