Winter Fun at The Claiborne House B&B!

Get outside and enjoy wintertime activities when you stay with us at The Claiborne House B&B! The trails are open, so kick off those flip flops and don your hiking boots, a hat, gloves and warm coat and come on out!

You can even order a picnic basket for your day on the trails. We recommend our local Grassy Hill Natural Area Preserve (in the Town of Rocky Mount) just 1.4 miles from The Claiborne House. Or Waid Park, walk along The Pigg River or hike the trails, just 4.7 miles from The Claiborne House, or a visit to Smith Mountain Lake State Park for the trails that meander around the waterfront, just 43 minutes (31 miles) from The Claiborne House B&B

There are trails and trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the weather may be less than predictable up there so we are recommending those in the foothills here, which are still very scenic and beautiful!

Here are Google maps of all three of these recommended hikes from The Claiborne House Bed and Breakfast:

Grassy Hill Natural Area Preserve - 1.4 miles (the trail head is in the parking lot of the Gereau Center)

Waid Park - 4.7 miles with 7 Miles of Walking & Hiking Trails, mountain biking, river access and more.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park - 43 minutes with hiking and biking trails galore. There is a small $3 weekday or $4 weekend per car fee to visit the state park.
